High-Rise Window Cleaning at Brandon Hall – McMaster University, Hamilton

Project Overview

Brandon Hall is an eleven-storey student residence at McMaster University, featuring a modern glass façade and high visibility from both within the campus and the surrounding Hamilton area. Skypole was contracted to perform exterior window cleaning on the entire building, along with a comprehensive spider spraying service to prevent future buildup of webs and debris on the structure.

High-Rise Access
Our team used rope-access and bosun’s chair methods to access all surfaces safely and efficiently. The unique architectural layout of Brandon Hall, with recessed sections and angled panels, required careful manoeuvring and expert planning.

Spider Activity
Like many buildings near green spaces, Brandon Hall had significant spider activity, especially around upper-floor ledges and structural joints. These areas are prone to web buildup, which quickly detracts from the appearance of newly cleaned windows.

Weather Considerations
Hamilton’s wind conditions and moisture from rain and nearby foliage contributed to dirt and debris accumulating faster, especially when webs were present.
